Natural Gas futures plunged more than 3 % in the domestic market

Natural Gas futures plunged more than 3 per cent in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators exited positions in the energy commodity tracking a weak trend in the overseas market after supplies rose at a significant pace last week, signaling weakening demand for the weather-sensitive fuel in the US, the world’s biggest fuel user. US gas stockpiles climbed by 89 billion cubic feet to 2.433 trillion cubic feet in the week ended June 12, 2015, the EIA said. Supplies climbed 112 billion cubic feet in the same month a year ago while the five-year average gain was 87 billion cubic feet. However, total stockpiles were 730 billion cubic feet higher than the same time a year ago and 46 billion cubic feet above the five-year average of 2.387 trillion cubic feet for this time of the year, a sign that supplies remain ample.

At the MCX, Natural Gas futures for June 2015 contract closed at Rs 177.20 per 1 kg, down by 3.3 per cent after opening at Rs 182.50, against the previous closing price of Rs 183.30. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 176.70 till the closing.

MCX Commodity Tips ~ Gold, Silver, Copper, Crude Oil Updates Today 10 April 2013

Gold eased at the domestic bullion market today on further selling from stockists and investors and subdued retail buying, mainly influenced by bearish global trend. Silver ended stable amidst thin activity. Standard gold of 99.5 per cent purity fell by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 29,300 per 10 grams from Monday's closing level of Rs 29,400.
Pure gold of 99.9 per cent purity also slid by a similar margin to conclude at Rs 29,450 per 10 grams from Rs 29,550. Silver ready (.999 fineness) quoted steady at its previous level of Rs 52,500 per kilo. At the global front, gold declined on strong dollar as well as continued outflows from exchangetraded funds (ETF) put pressure on the metal.
In New York, gold for June delivery slipped USD 3.40 to USD 1,572.50 an ounce on the Comex division of the NYMEX late yesterday. Silver for May contract went down 8 cents to USD 27.14 an ounce.

Brent crude futures rose above $105 per barrel on Tuesday after data showed China's inflation in March was slower than expected, giving its central bank room to keep monetary policy easy and supportive of oil demand in the world's second-biggest consumer.
Oil prices were also underpinned by worries over increasing tension in North Korea and a stalemate in talks between Iran and Western nations. Front-month Brent futures rose 55 cents to $105.21 per barrel by 0445 GMT, after moving in a $2-range and finishing 0.5 percent higher in a choppy session on Monday.
U.S. crude futures rose 31 cents to $93.67 per barrel. Brent may trade between $103 and $110 per barrel in coming weeks, LeBrun added.

Precious metals prices are trading a tad higher on COMEX today. Industrial metals prices are trading lower on international bourses today. We expect a further decline in the prices of industrial metals on account of a weaker than expected manufacturing data from US and China. Selling on rise is recommended for the day.

Crude oil prices are trading lower on NYMEX today. We expect a further decline in the prices of oil on account of an expectation of higher stocks at major ports. Selling on rise is recommended for the day.

MCX Commodity Market Report Today 01 April 2013

Bullion: Gold futures were down on local bourses tracking the COMEX contracts which came under pressure after investors booked profits ahead of the long Easter weekend. Marginal gains in the rupee against the dollar also put pressure on local gold prices.

Metals: Base metals futures on MCX were trading lower tracking benchmark contracts on the London Metal Exchange, where prices declined on Eurozone economic concerns and profit booking ahead of the long weekend. Appreciation
in rupee against the dollar also weighed on MCX base metal futures. A firm rupee makes import of dollar-denominated commodities cheaper.

Energy: Domestic crude oil futures were trading slightly higher due to bargain buying, but the upside was capped following a fall in benchmark contracts on the New York Mercantile Exchange and firm rupee against the dollar. NYMEX, crude oil futures declined today on Eurozone economic concerns and following a sharp rise in the US crude oil stocks.
