Copper updates & free stock tips for traders

Today, prices of Copper went high by 1.05 per-cent after the number of unemployed people in Germany fell more than estimated in Jan month, while the unemployment rate striked an all-time low indicating improving labor market in the region which increased the requirement outlook for the metal.Feb 2016 contract for copper futures were trading near Rs.313.40 per 1 kg, up by 1.05 per-cent, after unlocking at Rs. 309.50 as compared to previous ended price of Rs. 310.15.

Base Metals & Energy Updates for 10 June 2015

Copper prices rose by 0.17 per cent on Tuesday after disappointing Chinese inflation data added to speculation policymakers will have to introduce further stimulus measures to jumpstart the economy amid lackluster growth. Government data released earlier showed that Chinese inflation for May rose 1.2 per cent, below expectations for 1.3 per cent and down from 1.5 per cent in April. Disappointing trade data released on Monday indicated a recovery in the broader economy remains fragile and may need further government stimulus. At the MCX, copper futures for June 2015 contract were trading at Rs. 384.20 per 1 kg, up by 0.17 per cent, after opening at Rs. 384.20 against the previous closing price of Rs. 383.55. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 385.70 till the trading.

Zinc futures edged up 0.80 per cent to Rs 138.40 per kg today after speculators built up bets on the back of rising demand in the domestic spot market amid a firming trend overseas. Zinc futures for June 2015 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs 138.40 per kg, up by 0.80 per cent after opening at Rs. 137.45 against the previous closing price of Rs. 137.30. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 138.80 till the trading.

Gold prices fell by 0.24 per cent on Friday at the domestic markets as a result of profit-booking after a sharp rise yesterday. However, losses were curbed as it is being supported by a wave of risk aversion after a Malaysian airliner was downed in eastern Ukraine, killing nearly 300 people. Gold is seen as an alternative investment during times of geopolitical uncertainty. Gold futures for August 2014 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs. 28,130 per 10 grams, down by 0.24 per cent after opening at Rs. 28,158 against the previous closing price of Rs. 28,199. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 28,090 till the trading.

ZINC 
Zinc prices fell by 0.18 per cent on Friday at the domestic markets after U.S. housing starts and building permits unexpectedly fell in June signaling weak sentiment in the region which reduced the demand outlook for the metal. Groundbreaking declined 9.3 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual 893,000 million unit-pace, the lowest since September, the Commerce Department said. Zinc futures for July 2014 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs 138.60 per kg, down by 0.18 per cent after opening at Rs. 138.65 against the previous closing price of Rs. 138.85. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 137.60 till the trading. (At 3.53 PM today). However, losses were curbed due to the decline in the zinc stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong demand for the commodity.

Cardamom prices rose by 2.89 per cent to Rs 1,129.90 per kg on Thursday in futures trade on
pick-up in demand in spot markets amid low stocks.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for May delivery surged by Rs 31.80, or 2.89 per
cent, to Rs 1,129.90 per kg in a business volume of 12 lots. Spice prices for June contract rose by
Rs 4.40, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 1,001 per kg in a business volume of 638 lots.

Traders said a firming trend at the spot markets on the back of pick-up in demand led to the rise
in cardamom prices in futures market.

Crude oil futures on Thursday fell by 0.28 per cent to Rs 6,077 per barrel as speculators trimmed positions amid a weak trend in Asian trade. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May fell by Rs 17, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 6,094 per barrel in 495 lots.

Besides, oil for June delivery moved down by Rs 14, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 6,072 per barrel in 48 lots.
Analysts said the fall in crude prices at futures trade was primarily after it fell in the Asian trade,
following a rally in the previous session.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery shed 33 cents to $102.04 a barrel in mid-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

COPPER
Copper prices rose by 0.38 per cent to Rs 398.60 per kg in futures trade today on a firm global trend and increased domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 1.50, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 398.60 per kg in business turnover of 554 lots.

The metal for delivery in June edged up by Rs 1.35, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 403.20 per kg in 39 lots.

CRUDE OIL
Taking positive cues from the overseas markets, crude oil futures rose 0.43 per cent to Rs 6,066 per barrel today as speculators enlarged positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil prices for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 26, or 0.43 per cent, at Rs 6,066 per barrel, with a business turnover of 1,245 lots.

In a similar fashion, crude oil prices for May rose by a similar margin to Rs 6,060 per barrel, with a business volume of 97 lots.

CARDAMOM
Amid strong domestic and export demand, cardamom prices rose by 1.02 per cent to Rs 882.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May rose by Rs 8.90, or 1.02 per cent to Rs 882.80 per kg in a business turnover of 254 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 4.70, or 0.54 per cent to Rs 868.80 per kg in 605 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators on the back strong domestic and export demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from growing regions, mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.

GOLD
Gold prices spurted by Rs 180 to Rs 30,980 per ten grams in the national capital today on brisk buying by stockists and retailers for the ongoing marriage season amid a firming global trend.

Silver surged by Rs 800 to Rs 46,000 per kg on increased offtake by jewellery fabricators and coin makers.

In Mumbai, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity rebounded by Rs 170 and Rs 190 to Rs 30,650 and Rs 30,520 per ten grams, respectively. Silver jumped by Rs 1,050 to Rs 46,800 per kg.

Traders said sentiments bolstered as stockists and retailers remained net buyers to meet the ongoing marriage season demand amid a firming global trend where gold traded above $1,300.

Gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, rose 0.6 per cent to $1,310.70 an ounce, the highest since November 8 and silver by 1.9 per cent to $20.88 an ounce, its highest since November 14. At the domestic front, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity surged by Rs 180 each to Rs 30,980 and Rs 30,780 per ten grams, respectively.
Sovereign rose by Rs 100 to Rs 25,400 per piece of eight grams. In a similar fashion, silver ready shot up by Rs 800 to Rs 46,000 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 755 to Rs 45,515 per kg.

Cardamom prices rose 0.89 per cent to Rs 700 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions on a firm trend at spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February rose Rs 6.20, or 0.89 per
cent, to Rs 700 per kg in a business turnover of just one lot.

Likewise, spice for delivery in March edged higher by Rs 2, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 801 per kg in
231 lots.

CRUDE PALM OIL
Crude palm oil extended gains for the second straight day with prices rising 1.40 per cent to Rs 563.80 per 10 kg in futures trade today after speculators created positions amid strong demand in the spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for delivery in March shot up by Rs 7.80, or 1.40 per cent, to Rs 563.80 per 10 kg in a business turnover of 428 lots. Similarly, oil for delivery in February moved up by Rs 7.50, or 1.35 per cent, to Rs 562 per 10 kg in 248 lots.

Gold edged higher 0.17 per cent to Rs 28,423 per 10 gram in futures trade as participants enlarged positions amid positive Asian cues. 
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, metal for delivery in far-month April contracts gained Rs 49, or 0.17 per cent, to trade higher at Rs 28,423 per 10 gram in a turnover of 834 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February contracts moved up by Rs 21, or 0.07 per cent, to Rs 29,040 per 10 gram, clocking a business volume of 834 lots.

Lead futures prices rose marginally to Rs 136 per kg on rising spot demand and positive cues from global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in January traded 25 paise, or 0.18 per cent higher at Rs 136 per kg, with a turnover of 597 lots.

The metal for delivery in February also rose by 15 paise, or 0.11 per cent to trade at Rs 137 per kg, in a 
business turnover of 14 lots. 

Extending its rising streak for yet another day, nickel prices moved up further by 0.25 per cent to Rs 
895.40 per kg in futures market as speculators engaged in enlarging positions, tracking a firming trend 
overseas and increased demand from alloy-makers. 

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in January gained Rs 2.20, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 895.40 per kg in business turnover of 513 lots. In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in February rose Rs 1.60, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 902.60 per kg in 50 lots. 

Market analysts said apart from rising domestic demand from alloy-makers, firmness in copper and 
other base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on speculation that an improving global 

economy will increase demand also influenced nickel futures prices.

Gold prices fell by 0.45 per cent to Rs 28,966 per ten grams in futures trade today as
speculators indulged in trimming positions in tandem with a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in February fell by Rs 130, or 0.45 per cent
to Rs 28,966 per ten grams in business turnover of 1,274 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month April contracts lost Rs 99, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs
28,373 per ten grams in 128 lots. Analysts attributed the fall in gold futures to speculators
trimmed positions in tandem with a weak global trend amid speculation that the US Federal
Reserve will continue reducing asset purchases.

Meanwhile, gold fell 0.5 per cent to $1,239 an ounce in Singapore in early trade today.

Cardamom prices drifted 0.18 per cent to Rs 725 per kg in futures market today as speculators lightened positions amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January declined by Rs 1.30, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 725 per kg in business turnover of 18 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February shed 80 paise, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 711.30 per kg in
71 lots. Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators triggered by subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly led to decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.

Sugar futures rose on Wednesday to their highest in a week on expectation the government will give incentives to mills to produce raw sugar for exports.

At 0830 GMT, the key February contract was up 0.4 per cent at Rs 2,754 ($44.73) per 100 kg on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange. It rose to Rs 2,758 earlier in the day, the highest level since January 8.

DAILY MCX COMMODITY UPDATE FOR 14 JAN 2014

Snapping its three-day rising streak, gold prices today fell by Rs 15 to Rs 30,200 per ten grams
in the national capital on lower demand at existing higher levels.

However, silver managed to close steady at Rs 44,800 per kg on scattered buying support.

In Mumbai, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity traded at Rs 30,025 and Rs 29,875 per ten grams, respectively; while silver enquired at Rs 45,500 per kg.

Traders said slackness in demand from retailers and jewellers at current levels mainly led to decline in gold prices.

On the domestic front, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity declined by Rs 15 each to Rs 30,200 and Rs 30,000 per ten gram, respectively. It had gained Rs 215 in the last three sessions. Sovereign held steady at Rs 25,100 per piece of eight gram.

Silver ready too held steady at Rs 44,800 per kg, while weekly-based delivery by Rs 35 to Rs 44,765 per kg. Silver coins continued to trade at last level of Rs 85,000 for buying and Rs 86,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Zinc and nickel prices rose at the non-ferrous metal market due to stockist buying amidst sustained demand from alloy industries on the back of bullish London Metal Exchange (LME) cues.

Tin dropped on stockist selling on the back of subdued offtake from industrial users. 

The industrial metal was trading higher at the LME, while nickel jumped more than 2 percent, adding to strong gains last week as a ban on unprocessed nickel laterite ore exports from top producer Indonesia came into effect, fanning a technical rally across other metals. 

Nickel climbed by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,000 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 995. 

Zinc moved-up by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 172 from Rs 168. Copper sheet cutting inched-up by a Re per kg to Rs 483. Tin declined by Rs 7 per kg to Rs 1,533 as against Rs 1,540 previously. 

Copper scrap heavy, brass utensils scrap, brass sheet cutting, aluminium ingots and lead all softened by 

a Re per kg each to Rs 502, Rs 35 .

DAILY MCX COMMODITY UPDATE FOR 08 JAN 2014

Gold prices declined by Rs 200 to Rs 30,160 per ten grams in the national capital today on selling by stockists against sluggish demand.

However, silver found some low level buying support and recovered by Rs 120 to Rs 45,350 per kg. It had lost Rs 270 in the previous two sessions.

Traders said stockists selling against sluggish demand mainly led to decline in gold prices.

At the domestic front, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity fell by Rs 200 each to Rs 30,160 and Rs 29,960 per ten grams, respectively. Sovereign remained steady at Rs 25,100 per piece of eight grams.

On the other hand, silver ready recovered by Rs 120 to Rs 45,350 per kg and weekly-based delivery by a similar margin to Rs 45,500 per kg.

Silver coins continued to be asked at last level of Rs 85,000 for buying and Rs 86,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Nickel prices moved up by 0.13 per cent to Rs 852.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators
enlarged their positions driven by rising demand from alloy-makers in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in January gained Rs 1.10, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 852.20 per kg in a business turnover of 1,411 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February moved up by 90 paise, or 0.10 per cent, to Rs 860.40 per kg in 44 lots.

Chana prices moved down by 0.82 per cent to Rs 3,017 per quintal in futures trading today as participants trimmed positions, triggered by increased supplies from producing regions against
subdued demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in January moved down
by Rs 25, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 3,017 per quintal with an open interest of 56,690 lots. Similarly,
the commodity for delivery in February lost Rs 21, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 3,078 per quintal in
66,030 lots.

Refined soya oil remained weak for the second day and prices shed 0.56 per cent to Rs 682.50
per 10 kg in futures market today as speculators reduced positions following sluggish demand in
the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in January
fell further by Rs 3.85, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 682.50 per 10 kg with an open interest of 34,140
lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in February declined by Rs 3.75, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 675.60 per

10 kg in 1,24,140.

Lead futures were up 0.8 per cent at Rs 137.80 per kg on rising spot demand and positive cues from 
global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in January traded Rs 1.15, or 0.84 per cent, higher at Rs 137.80 per kg, with a turnover of 339 lots.

The metal for delivery in February also rose by Rupee one, or 0.73 per cent, to trade at Rs 138.75 per kg, in a business turnover of 13 lots.

Zinc prices rose by 1.49 per cent to Rs 129.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh 
positions supported by a rise in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in January rose by Rs 1.90, or 1.49 per cent, to Rs 129.40 per kg in business turnover of 1,691 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February edged up by Rs 1.65, or 1.29 per cent, to Rs 129.90 per kg in 44 lots.

Aluminium prices moved up by 0.73 per cent to Rs 110.90 per kg in futures market today as speculators enlarged positions on the back of increased demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in January moved up by 80 paise, or 0.73 

per cent, to Rs 110.90 per kg in a business turnover of 573 lots.

Cardamom futures extended gains for the second straight day with prices surging 0.74 per cent to Rs 682.40 per kg as speculators enlarged their positions tracking firming trend at spot market on rising demand.

Further, tight stocks position in the physical market following less arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January gained Rs 5, or 0.74 per cent, to Rs 682.40 per kg in business turnover of 160 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February traded higher by Rs 1.90, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 704.70 per kg in 45 lots.

Mentha oil prices rose for the second straight session by rising 0.35 per cent to Rs 848.70 per kg in futures trade today on strong demand from consuming industries in the spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in January gained Rs 3, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 848.70 per kg in business turnover of 140 lots. 

In a similar fashion, oil for delivery in February edged up by Rs 2.90, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 858.80 per kg in 17 lots.

Gold futures edged down on Monday on a stronger rupee, though premiums stayed on the higher side due to lack of supplies.

At 0923 GMT, the most-active gold contract for February delivery was 0.27 per cent lower at 28,477 rupees per 10 gram on the Multi Commodity Exchange. Silver for March delivery was down 0.07 per cent at 43,975 rupees per kg.

The rupee, which strengthened on Monday, plays an important role in determining the landed cost of the dollar-quoted yellow metal. Premiums stayed steady at $140 an ounce on London prices.

"There has been no pick-up in demand, they (suppliers) have ample gold for exports, but nothing is available for domestic," said Bachhraj Bamalwa, director at the All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation. Indian gold imports may fall 70 per cent in the final quarter of 2013 from 255 tonnes in the year-ago period and are expected to be half the usual levels at 500-550 tonnes next year if new import rules are maintained, a top trade body official said.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in December rose Rs 42, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 30,175 per ten grams in business turnover of 2,013 lots. 
Similarly, the metal for delivery in February gained Rs 22, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 29,325 per ten grams in 342 lots. 
Analysts attributed the rise in gold futures to a firm global trend on speculation that the decline to a four-month low may encourage purchases, while investors assessed the timing of a reduction in stimulus by the Federal Reserve. 
Meanwhile, gold gained 0.3 per cent to USD 1,246.75 an ounce in Singapore.

Silver prices fell 0.34 per cent to Rs 49,783 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits amid a weak trend in the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in December traded lower by Rs 169 or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 49.783 per kg in business turnover of 723 lots.
Similarly, the white metal prices for delivery in March next year declined by Rs 143 or 0.28 per cent to Rs 50.969 per kg in business volume of four lots.
In the international market, silver prices traded 0.72 per cent lower at USD 22.13 an ounce in Singapore.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in February next year shed Rs 1.05, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 465.70 per kg in 40 lots.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months lost 0.2 per cent to USD 7,228 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
Nickel futures today traded marginally lower at Rs 862.50 per kg largely in tune with a weakening trend overseas amid subdued spot demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in October weakened by Re 1, or 0.10 per cent, to Rs 862.50 per kg in business turnover of 287 lots.
The metal for delivery in November shed 10 paise, or 0.01 per cent at Rs 872.20 per kg in five lots.

Supported by strong demand in the spot market and restricted arrivals from producing regions, cardamom prices rose further by Rs 2.40 to Rs 751 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in November added Rs 2.40, or 0.32
per cent, to Rs 751 per kg in business turnover of 388 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in October edged up 60 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 706.50 per kg in 546 lots.
Mentha oil prices moved up by 0.18 per cent to Rs 870.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid rising demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
Besides, tight supplies in the physical market following less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also supported the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in October month rose by 1.60, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 870.80 per kg in business turnover of 206 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in November edged up by Rs 1.30, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 884.50 per kg in 6 lots.
