Today, The S&P BSE Sensex started on a positive note on the last trading day of the week. The market will remain shut on Friday due to a Christmas holiday.
The rally in the index was led by gains in ICICI Bank, Coal India, Infosys, Bajaj Auto, HUL, RIL and Tata Motors.
The Nifty-50 was trading comfortably above its critical psychological support level of 7,850, supported by gains in metal, power, oil & gas, capital goods stocks.
Other market updates : Japan's Nikkei were trading lower by 0.1 per-cent while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was trading higher by 0.5 per cent and the South Korean Kospi was flat, while mainland China's Shanghai Composite was down 1.3 per-cent.
