Gold futures prices today fell by 0.36 per cent to Rs 29,678 per 10 gram as speculators engaged in trimming positions, tracking a weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold prices for delivery in December fell by Rs 108, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 29,678 per 10 gram in business turnover of 253 lots.

Similarly, metal prices for delivery in October declined by Rs 99, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 29,775 per ten gram in 2,235 lots.

Meanwhile, gold prices fell 0.4 per cent to settle at USD 1,327 an ounce in New York yesterday.

Silver prices fell by 0.93 per cent to trade at Rs 50,004 per kg in futures trade today as participants engaged in reducing their positions amid a weakening trend in the global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month March down Rs 471, or 0.93 per cent, to Rs 50,004 per kg in a business turnover of 22 lots.

In a similar fashion, the white metal for delivery in December traded lower by Rs 384, or 0.78 per cent, at Rs 49,009 per kg in 3,133 lots. Meanwhile, silver fell by 0.25 per cent to 21.59 dollar an ounce in Singapore today.

Nickel prices moved down by 0.85 per cent to Rs 868.20 per kg in futures trade today due to sluggish demand from alloy-makers in the spot market amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in September declined by Rs 7.40, or 0.85 per cent to Rs 868.20 per kg in a turnover of 1,228 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in October traded lower by Rs 6.80, or 0.77 per cent to Rs 878.20 per kg in 143 lots.
Globally, nickel slid 1.30 per cent to USD 13,885.00 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Crude oil futures price today fell 0.42 per cent to Rs 6,609 per barrel, as speculators trimmed positions amid a mixed trend in Asian trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in October fell by Rs 28, or 0.42 per
cent, to Rs 6,609 per barrel in 3,708 lots.

In a likewise manner, oil for November moved down by Rs 20, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 6,604 per
barrel in 278 lots.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for November delivery was down 4 cents to USD 104.71 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange in mid-morning trade today.

Coriander prices fell by Rs 140 to Rs 5,550 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced their positions on the back of sluggish demand amid sufficient supply in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, coriander prices for delivery in November fell by Rs 140, or 2.46 per cent, to Rs 5,550 per quintal with open interest of 5,480 lots.

The price for October delivery declined by Rs 120, or 2.16 per cent to Rs 5,426 per quintal with open interest of 20,670 lots.

Mentha oil prices fell by 0.83 per cent to Rs 877.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid a weak demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks position in the physical market following increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh also fuelled the downtrend in mentha oil prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in October fell by Rs 7.40, or 0.83 per cent, to Rs 877.10 per kg, with a business turnover of Rs 123 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in September declined by Rs 7.10, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 862.50 per kg in 153 lots.

Marketmen attributed the fall in mentha oil futures to profit-booking by speculators after recent gains and a weak industrial demand in the spot market.
