Base metals shed on weak LME cues

Taking weak cues from benchmark LME bourse, base metals futures traded bearish during the opening hours of trading on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) Tuesday. Copper has been trading down on weak demand and high inventory, zinc prices also skew tracking three per cent losses on LME. Depreciating euro against dollar weighed on the sentiment.    
Aluminium February contract traded at Rs 114.65, down Re 0.20 at 10:26 am IST and opened the session at Rs 114.40 per kg. It moved between Rs 114.90- 114.40 per kg. Total volume so far recorded at 389 lots.

Copper February contract traded at Rs 442.15 per kg, down Rs 2.70 at 10:30 am IST and traded in the range of Rs 444.50- 441.80 per kg. Total volumes so far recorded 6,138 lots.

Lead February contract currently traded at Rs 119.05/kg, down Rs 1.10. The session opened at Rs 119.95 per kg and so far fluctuated in the range of Rs 120.00- 118.70 per kg. Total volumes recorded 1,536 lots.

Nickel February contract traded at Rs 1,314.00/kg, down Rs 5.60 and moved between Rs 1,318- 1,312.00 per kg. Volume so far recorded 2,184 lots. It had opened the session at Rs 1,318.00 per kg.
Zinc February contract traded at Rs 113.40, down Rs 2.15 and traded between Rs 114.90- 113.20 per kg. Total volumes recorded 3,247 lots.
